[...] Not getting involved but happy to watch is a past-time in this country like no other. There are no shortage of tales from expats about seeing a car accident and also seeing a massive crowd of people stare with morbid amusement and not so much as dial three numbers to help. I’ve seen domestic violence carried out with an abeyant audience of double-digits. I posted near exactly a year ago on how laowai are punished for getting involved, so that excuses (to some extent) us… but fuck… what’s the Chinese excuse? Liability? Legality? Repercussions of some other sort? Lack of desire to grow a pair? Lack of knowledge that this, in fact, is what they should do? What? [...]

Yeah no kidding Bernard. Mike is a great guy... That's the tricky part too though, sometimes you'll know it's coming, and sometimes it just comes at ya out of no where.

Don't worry Eric... could have happened anywhere, it's just the foreigners here are a small community and for it to be unofficially sponsored by a laowai frequented bar... that's just stupid.

That's a terrible situation to be in for sure. I was there that night when Scottish Mike got slashed and I remember my wife pointing out the guy as giving off bad vibes. I'm just glad Mike was ok.

Dave's Bar (Zhong Shan Sq.) has a bit of a floor and sometimes people dance there.

To be honest, I've sort of fallen out of the dance club scene... so I'm not likely the right guy to ask.
