If This Is Torture, Thai Me To The Wall…
So… I have not been all that great with the LJ entries lately. I can only blame it on being more conservative with my money – I was in London and pounds aren’t cheap! Here, Bangkok, it’s cheaper though… hell, who am I kidding, everything is cheaper here!
I left Florence Saturday morning and spent the day travelling to London. All went well and Maryann was home to greet me when I arrived at her flat, which is always a nice touch. It was awesome to see her and her flatmates again. It’s sort of bizarre how you happen upon…

Smiles On The Horizon!
First things first: Barcelona Photos
And next.. just wanted to say quickly that I arrived safely in Firenze (Florence) last night and am staying with the most wonderful couple, Francesca and Gianluca. It is hard for me not to love anyone that has a beautiful authentic Tuscan meal and wine for me, never mind a queen size mattress and a hot shower!
I had a bit of a scare the other day when I checked my bank account and it read $3.50. This was not alleviated by the fact that I only had 15 euro in my pocket. I…

Italia, There’s Something About Italy
Slowly sipping my second bottle of Mythos Hellenic Lager Beer I bought for 0.85 euro at the Mini Mart here in Athens, I wonder two things: (a) Will I ever make it back to Amalfi, quite possibly the most beautiful place I’ve been and (b) what the hell movie is this with Cybil Sheppard, Joe Piscapo and Greek subtitles.
I arrived in Athens at about 7:30 p.m. after travelling for over 36 hours – I’m beat, but when I say there was a power outlet in the “common room” of this hostel, I just had to get this entry out,…

Roman Around
Yesterday morning (alright, noonish) Cathy and I took the metro down to the Colosseum. Holy crap! You walk out of the station and it is RIGHT there sitting in its 2,000-year-old glory. Standing there in its shadow really made me appreciate my trip. I mean, how cool is that – the frigin Colosseum! We decided it’d be worth the 10 Euro to actually get inside it, and as much as I’m quickly running out of funds, it was worth it I think.
It was really cool to picture it full of Romans shouting for blood. It was built in the…

French Wine In Roma
It just turned midnight and I’ve now been away from home for more than two months. Surrounded by chatter in a number of languages, I write this while in the “common” room of the Yellow Hostel in Roma, Italy. My day leaving Dublin went much smoother than the day I arrived there. I was preparing to head to Paris and start my killer-budgeted Mainland Europe trip spending nearly 20 euro a night on a hostel – not something I was looking forward to. Checking my e-mail quickly before heading to the Dublin airport and in turn to Paris, I had…
